People think estate agents are all about the money.

Flash cars. Big fees. Easy life.

The truth?

Most frontline negotiators are on little more than minimum wage, with a commission that might barely cover a takeaway (I jest you not - maybe £50 a sale)

And for that, we carry the weight of people’s biggest life changes on our shoulders.

We will hold a sale together for six months, only to watch it collapse the morning contracts are due to be exchanged.

We will get shouted at, sworn at, and blamed for things we can’t control.

We absorb everyone’s fear, stress and frustration.

Some days we are less “salespeople” and more “therapists in suits”.

We move people through one of life’s three most stressful events ... right up there with divorce and bereavement ...... and somehow we are still the villain in the story.

It’s no wonder so many in our industry burn out.

Or drink too much. Or walk away entirely.

But here’s the thing.

For all the heartache, all the long hours, all the fights to keep chains alive… the calling is still there.

We still love helping people move forward.

And that is why we keep showing up.
