THINKING OF GOING SELF EMPLOYED ??
... one of the calls I received this morning was with a 35-year-old lady from the south of England. She’d been in Estate & letting agency for over 10 years. SHe rang me up to pick my brain on starting her own agency
She said she thought it wasn’t a good time now, yet would wait until next year
I said there is never a good time to open an agency & that she shouldn’t be waiting for what is happening in the property market to decide whether she should open one or not
She told me that she was a lister with a decent conversion of free Vals to listings, & she thought that she would do well as a self-employed agent (Be that totally herself or umbrella firm)
I asked her how many of the last 50 free vals she had been on had been directly caused by her biz gen actions or someone specifically ringing her on her mobile?
The answer was none
I said you might be a great converter of free vals yet you need to improve your skill set on generating the vals in the first place
This is a massive trap that many agents fall into when setting up their own business. Great at converting but not getting the val in the 1st place
Until you learn to generate your own FV’s by dealing with your fear of rejection on biz Gen can you truly consider setting up your own agency.
