Gen Z doesn’t see estate agency as a career—they see it as a stopgap, a stepping stone
Why?
Because we’re not giving these Gen z'ers a reason to stay.
No clear progression.
No structure beyond hit the KPIs
No vision beyond “bums on seats.”
Here’s the harsh broooootal truth:
We can’t expect this generation to be committed if we’re not investing in their future. It was different for you, you just wanted ££££, a company car and a fancy title, you Gen X'er
Gen Z'ers want more than just a job; they want a career with purpose, growth, and leadership.
🚨 Where we as estate Agency bosses are going wrong:
1️⃣ Throwing them into unstructured environments and hoping they “figure it out.”
2️⃣ Assuming they’re not interested in development, when in reality, they crave mentorship and clear paths to success.
3️⃣ Failing to create a workplace in your estate agency where they feel challenged, valued, and part of something bigger than a salary line on their bank statement.
💡 Fix it or fail EA bosses
Gen Z thrives on:
✔️ Structure and clarity—tell them exactly how they can progress.
✔️ Meaningful work—show them how estate agency can change lives, not just move houses.
✔️ Empowerment—create a partnership, not a hierarchy.
Final thought: If your Gen Z staff see estate agency as a temporary gig, the problem isn’t them. It’s YOU.
