My & my brother's Richard's Grandfather & father to our mum Sally Watkin ... 'Mac' was evacuated from Dunkirk. Fought in North Africa and Italy. Captured and held as a prisoner of war for 16 months after Anzio.

He went through hell. And like a sliding doors moment, one different decision ... to go left instead of right, to pause instead of run and my Mum, my brother, and I wouldn’t be here today.

And yet, in July 1945, he did come home to Fulbeck to marry the love of his life, Doris.

This isn’t just a wedding announcement .

It’s a reminder of what real resilience, sacrifice and love look like.
