Be Faithful to the Opportunity of Estate Agency, NOT the Estate Agency Company

Seeing loyal employees of “Purplebricks family" getting made redundant en masse in stone-cold ways is savage.

Big firms appear to have no issues raising millions on the money markets, spending money on share buybacks, over hiring middle management, and obviously running their businesses badly.

Yet it's the laid-off employees (and their other halves and kids) that suffer most.

Estate Agency has always been a rough and tumble game.

In 2008/9, many of us were expendable (including me - I was made redundant from Estate Agency from a Corporate in 2009 even though I ran a successful City Centre branch).

So what is the answer?

"Be faithful to the opportunity of estate agency, not the estate agency company."

Don't be innocent to the fact that the larger the firm, the less likely they will be committed to you, yet they demand it of you all the same.

An absence of loyalty from you as an employee is a red 🚩 .

Yet a lack of loyalty from an employer is just an inevitable business choice from the bosses up high.

I know this is not right- but it’s true and it's not going to really change anytime soon.

Make sure you are aware of this in your Estate Agency career and plan accordingly.
