Why Are Estate Agents Scared of Their Own Vendors?

Estate agents love to talk a big gameโ€”until a seller asks them to drop their fee. Then, suddenly, all their confidence evaporates. Instead of explaining why theyโ€™re worth their full fee, they cave instantly. โ€œOkay, weโ€™ll match the other agent.โ€

Pathetic.

If an agent canโ€™t even negotiate their own commission, how on earth can they be trusted to negotiate the best price for a seller? Negotiation is at the heart of estate agency. Yet, agents seem terrified of standing their ground, preferring to give away their value at the first sign of pushback.

The problem? They donโ€™t believe in their own worth. They havenโ€™t been trained in sales, so they donโ€™t know how to defend themselves. They think dropping their fee will secure the instruction, but all it really does is tell the seller they werenโ€™t worth the full price in the first place.

Sellers deserve better. If your agent canโ€™t even fight for their own money, what makes you think theyโ€™ll fight for yours?
