Those of us that have worked in the estate agency industry long enough,
This market is not going to be a problem for people,
in fact this is going to be one of the best I think.
One of the best markets for the best estate agents that they've had for a long time and the reason I say that is because in times that are supposedly tough I mean and I'm talking about not those of us remembered the early 1990s when you had you were giving advice to people whose mortgages were worth more than the value of their house.
Those days are not the days we're facing so and we had interest rates north of 15% and people that's proper hardship with house values that were on their ar$e, the industry is not full of those people anymore who experienced sitting with people who were crying when they were trying to sell their house
The estate agency industry needs to do without question is it needs to educate itself pretty quickly.
If people talk about being local property experts or 'trusted advisors' or whatever the terminology people talk these days, which let's be frank, are just words, they need to get behind those words and understand that if the public listens to the media they will get scared, they will be nervous and they will probably vote with their feet.
Agents need to be very calm and they need to have a plan. They need to educate themselves and their staff.
A lot of their younger negs and valuers in their 20s will be watching the newspaper headlines and thinking oh my God this is all going to be a disaster, I might go and work somewhere else or do something else. To me is one of the most important things that should happen but most importantly of all, be positive about it.
Buyers and sellers need their handheld and are educated as well calmly professionally and given the right advice so it does present a tremendous opportunity for estate agents to be able to introduce not only their own advice but also the advice of other people that are working within their business such as mortgage arrangers.
So don't worry about it, this is a great opportunity and great market we're going into a good time
