Losing a listing is a dagger through the heart: How to deal with that

‘It f**ks me off when I lose a listing, like a knife through the ♥️’

Why is that?

Human beings are hard wired to be selfcentered.

We only see things through our 👀 .

So when we lose a listing - it really screws us up.

But here is a thought.

There are always multiple ways to view things in life.

What does this have to do with Estate Agency?

Why is that so many Estate Agents focus on the things that they don’t always control all the time.

Securing Listings. Targets. Market Share

The issue?

When you focus on the things you don’t control, your ego fastens your self-worth as a human being to an extrinsic reward (market share & listings)

So when you don’t get your wished for result, you feel worried, distressed & rejected.

What’s the answer?

Let go of having any expectations of the listing

Do away with things you don’t control.

You don’t control:

* Targets.

* Your Office.

* How well competitors perform on the free val

* When or if vendors list.

You do control:

* How you respond to rejections.

* What you say on a free val.

* How you say it on the free val

The joy of the free val (and in fact life) occurs when you really let go of things you don’t truly control.

Drop your ego (simple to say but not easy to action).

When you focus on the process of estate agency and the free val, not the outcome (listing) … you will become a million times happier

… and some weird - you will get higher fees and more listings.

Most of you will laugh at me for this - you 😆 away my friends

Yet one of you reading this, will Google, ‘love the process, not the outcome’ … and learn to be happier & more successful estate agents.

It’s all about fishing, not catching the fish
