Starting Your Own Estate Agency

Starting your own Estate Agency can be a daunting and challenging process, especially for those who have something to lose.

When we have steady Valuers or BManager, it can be difficult to take the leap of faith and start our own agency.

It is only when we are pushed against the wall with no other options, such as being laid off, that diving headfirst into starting your own agency may seem like the only choice.

However, for those who have something to lose, the fear of losing everything can be a daunting thought.

When I left Belvoir to pursue my own entrepreneurial journey, I knew that I was giving up my earning potential and savings that I could have secured by continuing to ascend the corporate ladder.

This fear can be amplified when you are at the beginning of your journey and have no idea of the outcome that you will achieve. Running around like a headless chicken🐔 around for months or even years, experiencing a short-lived success that eventually burns out, or encountering successive failures can cause you to question if it was all worth it.

The comparison-oriented and success-driven brain may silently berate us with the question: “Was it worth the cost? Was this the right choice? Will the outcome ever make up for all the sacrifices I gave up?” However, starting your own agency is a long game, and it's challenging to assess success by judging any one moment in time.

The key to starting your own agency is to continuously ask yourself if the idea that brought you to the venture you’re pursuing still holds. If it does, happy flippin’day and if that thesis outweighs the appeal of the 9 to 5, then sticking to the plan may be the most strategic long-term course of action. Unlike jobs, entrepreneurship is rarely a straight line, and you can’t judge the success of a business or a career by one launch, month, or year.

While it may be tempting to compare our entrepreneurial journeys with others or with what could have been in our previous careers, it is essential to focus on our progress and success.

Entrepreneurship requires a significant amount of effort, time, and resources, and it may take years before we start seeing significant returns. It is crucial to remember that success is a journey, not a destination, and to celebrate small wins along the way.

Starting your own agency is not for everyone, and it requires a significant amount of courage, dedication, and perseverance. While it may be challenging to take the leap of faith, it is crucial to remember that success is rarely a straight line, and we should focus on our progress and success along the way.
