Building a Personal Brand in Estate Agency

How do you build a ‘personal brand’ in Estate Agency?

Your 1st step has to be ‘defining who you are’, and then sticking to it, come what may.

If nobody can describe you or if they don’t know what you stand for - you can’t have a personal brand

It’s that which sets you apart from everyone else.

You see, once you have chosen what you want people to identify you with, you must never ever change that … even if you are trolled.

That’s why it’s so important to get it right from day one.

PS of course the things that define you will slowly evolve and grow over time - yet the core values and principles you set out from will be your guiding North Star.

The second step in building your personal brand has to be confidence.

Confidence - not cocky

Confidence is all about believing in yourself & your own abilities, yet it crosses the line into cockiness when you believe you are better than everybody else.

Confidence will mean people start to admire you.

Even if you are shy, you really need to master the art of being bold & interactive when you have to.

3rd step to building a personal brand is an optimistic helpful personality.

The best approach in my humble opinion to building a great personality is being helpful to others.

Always aim to help others and it will show in your disposition and manner.

How people perceive you is your personal brand.

So if you go out there trying to help people - you won’t go far wrong.

4th step is the need for feedback.

Note this is not a hunt for likes & shares - but for feedback

Even if others criticise or troll you, always take it as feedback.

You can never be perfect, but you can try to attain excellence.

Feedback is the breakfast of champions!

5th and Final thought- it’s all about the long game.

My Mrs (Senior Management) was still questioning whether I should be doing the Watkinsofa chats two years after starting them.

I see so many agents start this process and then give up after a couple of months.

Be persistently consistent and adapt your personal brand to fit the new things coming along.

If a new social media stream breaks, jump on it but keep with the old one as well.

A strong personal brand is not built overnight.

It doesn’t take weeks or months for it to reap its rewards it often takes years, yet once the rewards come they are huge and massive I will fundamentally change your life
